The project aims to actively involve young people from rural areas in shaping the future of the European Union, particularly through the upcoming EU Youth Strategy. Rural youth often face barriers to participation, such as limited access to information, fewer opportunities, and lower trust in EU institutions. This initiative seeks to reverse this trend by increasing their awareness of EU policies, democratic tools, and long-term priorities and challenges, while fostering a sense of belonging to the European project. The project brings together 4 Local Action Groups and 4 youth organizations from 8 EU countries, all rooted in rural areas, to co-create a vision for the future through a structured process combining information, dialogue, and foresight. Running for 22 months (January 2026 – October 2027), the project foresees 4 face-to-face events, 3 online sessions, and an open Call for Ideas inviting youth to share visions of rural Europe in 2040. These activities will create space for reflection and co-creation, where rural youth will share perspectives on the future of Europe and rural areas, engage in discussions on strengthening democratic participation, and develop concrete recommendations that can influence EU decision-making.
